FAQs

  • There are different schools of thought on this, but most people I know (myself included) use the two terms interchangeably. “Therapy” is short for “psychotherapy,” which is a fancy term for talk therapy. To some, “counseling” means seeking support for a short-term issue or goal, while “therapy” implies more of a longstanding relationship. No matter your timeline, I’m here with you!

  • I charge $140 per 60-minute session and $180 per 90-minute session. Walk-and-talk therapy sessions (60 minutes) are at a slightly higher rate at $150 per session. For more information, please see the “Services” page.

    Good Faith Estimate

Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service or at any time during treatment. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill/see your Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

  • Yes, I am in-network with several insurers. Please reach out to me for more information. I am also happy to provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement – check with your insurance carrier to see if this is an option for you.

  • No. Only a medical professional such as a medical doctor, psychiatrist, or nurse practitioner can prescribe psychotropic medication. I am happy to provide referrals if this is something you’re interested in.

  • It depends. Some folks come to counseling for a short-term issue, while others want to form a lasting relationship. I always strive to meet my clients where they’re at throughout the therapeutic process. Typically, I recommend that clients who are just getting started meet weekly or every other week, and then we can scale back as needed. As your therapist, I will check in with you intermittently to assess progress towards treatment goals and your personal expectations.

  • Both! For virtual sessions, I use a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform called Sessions Health. Please be sure you have a stable Internet connection and a quiet, private space prior to any virtual appointments.
